Benoît is in debt and once again has to ask his rich parents for help. His plan to get the money: trick them into believing he’s marrying his model girlfriend Emily. I had the chance to see this movie in preview and I’m glad I didn’t have to pay for it because it was really mediocre. Let’s start with the worst: the script is completely empty and the humor is just stupid, without a trace of wit. There’s swearing everywhere, which wouldn’t be a problem if there was even a little bit of subtlety, but no, it’s just swearing for the sake of swearing, probably to please a certain type of audience. In short, there’s not much to say about this French comedy. Of course Michèle Laroque and Gérard Darmon are experienced actors who have nothing left to prove, but what did they do in this disaster? A pleasant surprise, however, is the male lead, whom I did not know until then, but he gives a solid performance and adds value to the film. Another thing I liked was the opening scenes with the kidnappers, which were well shot, but unfortunately the rest of the film did not catch on.
